PgmEdit - Spell Check

PgmEdit home

The Spell Check tool ("abc" icon) can check a single word, a line of words, or all words in the file (one word at a time).

1.  Text to be Checked

a.  If ProgramEdit text is selected, the selected text will be loaded into the Spell Check tool.

b.  If no ProgramEdit text is selected, all text from the cursor/caret to the end of the file will be loaded into the Spell Check tool.

2.  Spelling Dictionaries

An American English (en-US) spelling dictionary is installed with the Spell Check tool.

Spelling dictionaries for other languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish) can be installed using the Spell Dictionary Installer tool.

3.  Spell Dictionary Installer

This tool can install up to nine different dictionaries for the Spell Check tool:
   de-DE   German (Standard)
   en-AU   English (Australia)
   en-CA   English (Canada)
   en-GB   English (United Kingdom)
   en-US   English (United States)
   es-ES   Spanish (Spain)
   es-MX   Spanish (Mexico)
   fr-FR   French (Standard)
   it-IT   Italian (Standard)
This tool automatically installs the dictionary files to the ProgramEditor\bin\dic folder.

Note - Transport Level Security (TLS) 1.2 or higher, which is required for the Spell Dictionary Installer, may not be available on older PCs (such as XP or Vista).

The nine dictionaries can also be downloaded from:
a. GitHub/NetSpell : Select "Code", then "Download Zip" to download file NetSpell-master.zip
    or
b. SourceForge/NetSpell : Select "NetSpell.2.1.7.zip" to download the zip file.

Downloaded dictionary(.dic) files must be unzipped and then installed to the ProgramEditor\bin\dic folder.

Tip - After installing dictionaries, the Default dictionary may need to be re-selected (Tools/Options/Spell Check Dictionary).

4.  User Dictionary

Missing words are added to a user dictionary when the Spell Check tool "Add" button is clicked.  The user dictionary is in folder "C:\Users\user-name\AppData\Roaming\NetSpell".

5.  Spell Check Options

The Spell Check Options window provides (4) General spelling options, a Dictionary Copyright statement, a list of software versions, and an About window for the Netspell.SpellChecker.
